The American dream is having the freedom to make money the way you want to make it. You have the freedom to be in any social class that you want to be in as long as you have the finacial support rather than being born into a social class and being doomed to stay there for the rest of your life. My version of the american dream is simple... A good house with a good family and a good high paying job. But you can't get that anymore do to the economic troubles that we have seen these last few decades. In my opinion, the american dream is whatever you make it, whether it is good or bad. You can't fix the american dream if it is an idea, the american dream was never broken in the first place, because it was just an idea.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the american dream?
ReplyDeleteAmerica has this standard of the “American Dream” where anyone from all over the world could come here for anything, jobs, freedom, etc. People all over the world think that amaerica is the place to have a happy living llife. They see all the pictures, movies, buildings, and they think that this is the place to be. They belive this because that is how we as a whole nation make our country look to others.
Is your idea of the American Dream different from other generations?
I don’t think my idea of the American Dream is that much different from other generations. I still percive our nation as a place of freedom and being to do the jobs that you want to do. I have my own dreams unlike many other people do. Many people think of the white fences and a big house with a family and two kids. I just think that, that is a little bit cleche.
Do you think the American Dream is still alive today?
In some cases the American Dream is still alive, in other cases not so much. We still belive that america is the land of the free and that we are able to get a job that we want to do. Nowadays I really don’t think people want two kids or that white fence. Now all they want is just a house, car, and money. Why is that all we want nowadays? Oh right because a lot of people aren’t able to get everything they want now, which is really sad. So now we just have to take what we can get and deal.
What do you believe we need to do to fix the American Dream?
Fix the American Dream? No. Why? Well we only need to make that American dream come back to life because up until now I really did not know ANYTHING about the american dream. I think we need to be thought more about the american dream and how it pertains to us. I think we need to fix our nation to fit the american dream, not change the american dream to fit us.
The American Dream
ReplyDelete1. To me the American Dream is having the freedom to follow your dreams. Maybe even starting a new life for you and your family. Having a steady lifestyle, being happy, or maybe even staring school again and get your G.E.D or there Diploma for there kids and have a decent job that can suppot the family.
2. Umm…I think soo due to the fact that my dream is to lead my dream you know. I wanna become someone when I get older. Others might be just to escape dictatorship, or living a crappy life and wanna start fresh.
3. I still think its there but the economy is making it harder for people to make it or live it. I think that if the economy was steady and good that people might even still think that the American is still there.
4. To me I think that we should maybe relax on the whole immagration thing. Some people come over here to start fresh and support there family well. I didn’t say to let them come in with no problem you know just like give them a test or something you know. That way maybe they think its still there (the American Dream).
1) What is the American Dream
ReplyDeleteThe American dream is to maintain a healthy lifestyle, raise a family maintain money, own a house and generally live a good healthy life and pass it on to the next generation.
2) Is your idea of the American Dream different from other generation
My American dream is to live my life teaching in high school, playing music, writing music, possibly write a novel, run a marathon, I want to help people keep the American dream going.
3) Do you think the American Dream is still alive today?
Not necessarily, there are aspects of it still around. The whole meaning to the “American dream” is to get a fresh start and leave everything behind. Now looking at people trying to get a fresh start are struggling much more than what would be the ideal situation. Now people are expected to be perfect to get the American dream, or they are judged by their history, instead of what they really are. Which in some cases is right? How would that qualify as a fresh start?
4) What do you believe we need to do to fix the American Dream?
We as a country need to work together instead of thinking someone else will do it, and keep everyone thinking logically. I want video games to be limited to keep people from wasting time, I believe this keeps people away from a possible career and it takes away potential, which ruins the American dream.
1. The American Dream is the possibility of prosperity and success in the United States.
ReplyDelete2. The American Dream is the same for my generation. We still want prosperity and success.
3. I believe the American Dream is still alive today but it will just be harder to achieve. The economy isn’t in its prime and there’s the fear of losing your job. This makes getting prosperity and success tougher.
4. I think bringing jobs back to United States would help people achieve the American Dream. We need to reduce the outsourcing being done. If you’re an American corporation you would help Americans get jobs.
1) What is the American Dream?
ReplyDelete-The idea life for an american or for anyone else which is to mantain a healthy lifestyle, 2.5 kids, a car, and dog.
2) Is your idea of the American Dream different from other generations?
-Not really, everyone wants to live the good life with good health, money, a house, and a nice car.
3) Do you think the American Dream is still alive today?
-I believe it is but it has changed from being rich, having kids, a good job and nice car, and a house to having a normal car, some kids, a wife, and a job.
4) What do you believe we need to do to fix the American Dream?
-We need more educated people in the public. The more educated you are the more money you can earn which means we can bring the standard of the american dream back to its older standard
1) What is the American Dream?
ReplyDeleteThe american dream is to become something out of nothing. To get a good job, have a good car, a good wife, and a good family.
2) Is your idea of the American Dream different from other generations?
My idea of the american dream is to grow up and persue my dream of becoming a computer programmer.
3) Do you think the American Dream is still alive today?
I think it is still alive today but it is highley exagerated.
4) What do you believe we need to do to fix the American Dream?
We need to make it clear to people that the american dream is not all that it is worked up to be. There is high unemployment, a bad economy, and it is hard to move up in america from nothing.
1. The American dream is a white picket fence with a nice house a golden retriever and 2.5 kids and that your kids will grow up to go to college have a good education and earn lots of money.
ReplyDelete2. Yes it is because the fact that nobody in my generation has a good paying job ant the fact that America is sending away lots of smart immigrants and not a lot of people are coming into America
3. Yes but it’s alive in are grandparents generation and my generations and my parents are realizing that the American dream is starting to die.
4. No I think that we need to make more people believe in the American dream and not push away those smart immigrants.
The American dream too many immigrants is to have a home, job, and lots of money. They believe coming to America will make them happy. I think my generations American dream is to become rich and not have to work for the rest of your life. I think the dream is still alive you can still work at what you want. You can still move up in society today just like years ago it might just be harder now. I think to help the american dream become more present we need to help the economy. We need to help the middle lass and lower the unemployment rate to help the american dream.
ReplyDelete1- The american dream is having people just like you and I have freedom, rights, jobs, everything in the USA. I would say that yes our generation has a very different view of the american dream since we dont really worry about things that people back then did. I beleive it still is alive but not as important anymore. We need to fix it because it could be the backbone of the american people and it could keep people going to help get out of our economy crisis
ReplyDeleteThe american dream is different for everybody. The american dream is basically comiing to america to achive success. And once you have achived success you have a great family and everyones happy. For most people the american dreams consists of having life, liberty, and freedom.
ReplyDeleteYes I think my poinon of the american dream is different from other generations. I think that in my opinion I take for granite everything that I have. In older generations they all had to work hard and earn what they wanted. Our generation I thinks takes for granite that.
I think that the american dream is still alive today but not to the same extant. But I do think it is still alive. People want to come to america for the bet opprotunity to get a job, family, and be sucessful. I think that america has the best chance for someone to make there dream possible.
The American dream to me is having freedom and being able to be successful in life. Freedom is the key to success in life and America is all about freedom.
ReplyDeleteMy idea of the American dream is a little different than other generations because my idea is simpler. Past generations say that to have the American dream you need white fence, nice house, and 2.5 kids. All you need in my American dream is have the ability to be successful. This is by freedom.
I think the American dream is still here today but it is disappearing slowly. It is disappearing slowly because of the economy. This economy we have today is making it hard to have a job. Not have a job makes it almost impossible to have the American dream.
To fix the American dream today we need to fix the economy first. People not being able to work and own a house is why there is no American dream today. We also need more educated people. The more educated you are the more money you can earn which means we can bring the American dream back.
1. The American Dream is having the opportunity and drive to reach success. Another definition of the American dream could be the idea of having a higher standard of living than your parents did. My definition of the American dream is living a happy and healthy lifestyle with a loving family. Different generations have different definition on what the dream is.
ReplyDelete2. Our generation could have a different definition because we are thought to be “underachievers” so our definition might not be as exciting. Our generation has been labeled as lazy so that could be another reason why our definition is different. We need to realize that the work we do now will benefit us in the future. Not everyone realizes that so that’s why we have a different meaning of the American dream.
3. I think the American dream is shown everywhere. Whether it’s a kid deciding to go to college or someone working extra hours for a higher standard of living. However, it is dying out too. Many people just don’t care anymore and are settling with under average lifestyles.
4. There are a lot of things we can do to fix the American dream. We can educate young kids on what on the American dream is. They can be taught that if they work hard, they can reach the goal. Also, they can be taught how to manage money.
1) The American Dream is an era when America faces little or no problems. During the American Dream in the 1950s people had many great things such as a stable economy, rock and roll, and no war took place during that decade. A good part of the American Dream during the past decades was that people can easily buy things. For example, people can buy a cheeseburger for 25 cents.
ReplyDelete2) My idea about the American Dream is not different from generations because there were other terrible times in America. These times include the Great Depression, the Civil War, 2 world wars, slavery, and the Cold War. There are many problems going on right now and some of them have been happening for a long time. I believe there will be big problems in the future. By believing this, my idea about the American Dream will never be different from other generations.
3) I believe the American Dream is not alive. I believe achieving the American Dream is almost an impossible goal because there will always be people who create problems. I believe the American Dream will be alive again, but it will not be alive forever. The American Dream has not been alive for a long time and I do not think it will be back soon.
4) To fix the American Dream, we can do the following things: help countries that have economic problems, agree to stop fighting wars, and donate money to charity. Everyone is able to help fix the American Dream. Everyone cannot fix economic problems, but there are other problems for people to fix. Another great strategy for a country is to do the same things other countries do to maintain their societies.
1. The American Dream is to lead a better life, to have freedom, and to pursue happiness.
ReplyDelete2. My idea of the American Dream is the same as the other generations.
3. I do not think the American Dream is the same today, people are just trying to get through with what they have.
4. I do believe we can fix the American Dream by fixing the economy we fix the American Dream.
1. The American dream is the belief that by being in America equals the best in life. Some would uproot there whole families just to achieve this. They talk about how they had seen on TV or in a newspaper about how well we were doing as oppose to their life and how they lived it. They wanted to be just like us, we were their role model.
ReplyDelete2. We all have that dream, the dream of have a big house with the wife, dog, and kids. It’s still pretty much the same, it’s just nowadays we as young adults, have to work harder to achieve it. If you want something in life that bad, you will work hard to get it. That’s how I was raised and so were all the people around me. You can’t have it handed to you. You have to go to college and make something of your life, on just be lazy. That’s not the American dream.
3. Yes, it’s defiantly still here, especially for those from other countries. They see it as an opportunity, a new life. But some people are against others coming here to fulfill their dream. They say it’s our dreams that their taking. I don’t feel that way. If they come to this country the right way, and don’t hurt our system, than it’s all good.
4. I don’t think we need to fix it. We are in a bad time in our life, with all the money problems and all; we need to fix our economy witch will than raise the hopes and dreams of the people. But that’s all in time, were getting better, we just got to hang in there.
1.The American Dream is when you have freedom ,rights ,and jobs America. It is also when you have 2.5 kids, a car and a dog. Which is a dream to everyone.
ReplyDelete2.Yes because know pretty much the American Dream for our generation is you are rich you have a huge house. A lot of cars all the new techonolgy. You pretty much are made of money in our generation of American Dream.
3.I believe some people still believe in the American dream. But mostly not everyone. Most people want to get rich not have to work and stuff like that which is mean that they are lazy and don’t want to achieve anything in life. Which is sad and dissapointing to our generation.
4.Im not sure what we can do. One reason is because people ivented all this new techonlogy and that is what people think is cool. Also a lot of familys are getting divorced and having a ton of kids and people don’t believe in the American dream anymore. Which is sad to see because people come here to start a new life and see what the American dream is going down
1)The American Dream is to over all have the “dream” life. Now when they say the dream life, they mean things like, living comfortably and well, while reaching for and achieving success in life. Over all, you should be leading a happy life and a healthy life style.
ReplyDelete2)I think my idea of the American Dream follows along the same lines; I would just personally like to set higher goals for myself and my family in the future. I want to have a beautiful and healthy family, along with having the nice things in life. I want to be successful in my career choice and make enough money to live my family comfortably. I would love to give my kids a better life then I had, I want them to have the best and give them what they want in life and teach them how to go and get work done for themselves.
3)I think some people have the right idea of having the American Dream in the back of their mind. I feel like in our generation and in recent years, which has slipped more and more away. With the struggles we have had in the economy and with our country it becomes more and more out of sight for other American’s.
4)To have the American Dream go back into more of an everyday thing where people want to do it for themselves and be 100% capable, the economy needs to get better and I think our country needs to get better when it comes to our values. If people would turn it around and put things back into place with their priorities and values, it would be something we can easily fix.
1) To many people, the American Dream is this idea of starting a family and being able to supply them with whatever they want. Also, it is that they can come to America for freedom, jobs, and a better life. People from all over the world come to America with the thought that they will be happier and live an easier, more enjoyable life. They see pictures involving America and believe that that is the place to be. Most people who came over to America said that the atmosphere was more exciting and uplifting.
ReplyDelete2) My idea of the American Dream is a little different from other generations, but it still has the same idea. I like to think of America as the place to fulfill your dreams, whatever they are. I think that America gives many opportunities for people to become successful in whatever they want to be. But I do also believe that it has changed because along with that I also know that you have to work extremely hard and be determined to succeed and that you will not just come here and quickly find success.
3) I think that the American Dream is still somewhat alive today. I still think that people want freedom and a better life, but I don’t feel like America is the place that everyone is dying to be. Due to the economy, people have to work much harder than they had to in the previous years, and that changes people’s dreams. Many people dream for things that will benefit them and are realistic like a well paying job and enough money to bring home the necessities while others dream of buying nice cars and big houses. The American Dream is still alive, it is just modified.
4) I think that the American Dream should be based more on the necessities of maintaining a family or yourself rather than people being materialistic. I feel that if more people are determined to focus on what they need, they will be surprised with what else they will soon be able to afford. Our generation seems to want only what we cannot have, and I feel that is affecting our view on the American Dream. Many people view it as a dream and aim to a point that they cannot obtain, but I feel they should focus on what they absolutely need. If they do that, then they will feel more accomplished and feel better with what they have done.
1. The American dream is a dream to do well in what your career is and having almost everything you want and to be able to afford it.
ReplyDelete2. I think that the American dream is pretty much the same in every generation because it still has the same meaning to everyone.
3. I think that the dream is still alive today even when our economy isn’t the greatest; people still want to work hard and achieve the goals that they have for themselves. They might not be able to achieve everything they want to because so many jobs our lost, but many people still work toward their dreams.
4. To try and fix the American dream we would need to fix how many jobs were lost, so people can try and work for what they want. I think without the jobs that people need to have the American dream it gets really tough for everyone.
The American dream is the image people have that the U.S. is a wonderland compared to others. Its right when you get off the boat, you have a job, a house, a career, a family.
ReplyDeleteYes. To me, you have to work for your success, and strive to accomplish your dreams. They aren’t just giving to you.
Yes because we still have many imigrants coming to the U.S.
I think we need to look at other contries who are doing better then us and learn from them.
1) What is the American Dream?
ReplyDeleteA) The image that people have of the U.S. This image includes a life of prosperity, succes, and ease. In other words, get rich in the easiest way possible.
2) Is your idea of the American Dream different from other generations?
B) I think the American dream is different then what they thought of it because before people thought that just by being here everything would be easy. But I believe that you have to work for it before you can live it.
3) Do you think the American Dream is still alive today?
A) I think for Americans it is gone, but for foriegners it is still there very much alive because the life they get in America, compared to the life they might have had in their home country, might be way better.
4) What do you believe we need to do to fix the American Dream?
A) The first thing we need to do and the only thing we really need to do is unite as a country. Then is when we will be able to fix the American Dream.
The American Dream to people who arent American citizens, is to have a good paying job, nice car, a decent house, in a nice neighborhood, with parks where there kids can play at. I believe the idea of the American Dream to some Americans is becoming less and less expectant. I think people now don’t care how they live as long as they have transportation, a means of food and some type of shelter. They don’t care if they live in poverty or if they put there children in danger because of the neighborhood they live in. I think the American is still alive, even though some people don’t care about it. Nobody wants to be a failure so yea there still is a dream to many people to make it and be succesful. There isnt enough money or willing people to make the American Dream how it used to be. If we did actually put time into we would have to get rid of hoods, gangs, ilegal possesion of weapons, and anything else that can potentially hurt someone. If we could do that we would be back on track
ReplyDelete1.The American Dream is a husband and wife, a dog, white picket fence, perfect kids, car, healthy and perfect life.
ReplyDelete2.I think the american dream has stayed the same throughout generations.
3.I think the American Dream is obviously still alive today because people still want to migrate to America for better opportunities and a better life. They imagine a different more positive future here then in their country.
4.I think the name says it all. It’s a dream, a wish, etc. Something that everyone can shoot for. Maybe not always reach, but theres no reason to fix or change anything about the American Dream.

ReplyDeleteThe American Dream was first expressed in 1931 by James truslow Adams. It basically states that “everyone has the right to a full and better life regardless of social class or circumstantial birth.” The American Dream was originally rooted in the second sentence of the Declaration of Independence, stating that “all men are created equal, and that everyone has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
ReplyDeleteThe American dream in my view is different from the other generations because I believe that only Americans are subject to this “policy,” which it technically is by the fact that it is a motto we as a country have adopted in the Declaration of Indepenence. I believe that this policy should only apply to people who are born in America by someone with legal citizenship. If you are not catagorized in that way, then you are not an American and should not be covered by the American Dream.
I think the American Dream is not around anymore today because of all the things that America is doing with border patrol on Mexico and tighter international standards. I think that even though American officials are making citizenships easier to get, the American Dream is still dead because of a new age that we’re in.
I think that the American dream is fine the way it is, except for the fact that it is still standing on its feet. I say knock it down and bury deep in the ground where no one will ever find it. I say this because We shouldn’t be opening our doors to other countries in times of such hardships as we are now. 35 million people are in limited to no access to enough food to live. 12.4 million people of that 35 million are children.
The American Dream is how people think everyone should be they should live in a house, 2 kids, and a car
ReplyDelete2) It is different from our generation because have a house or they don’t. People have more than two kids. They have a car or they don’t or they have more than one car.
3) You never know because things can change in the world today. It is up to the people of the world.
4) Well yes because people need help and no because maybe people like living the way they are now.
The American dream is about being here in the U.S. and making a name for yourself. It’s about giving your children a better life than you had. It has existed since people first started coming here. It’s supposed to be about bigger opportunities.
ReplyDeleteI think my idea about the American Dream is different than most peoples’. My idea doesn’t revolve around money which is what it really has been about. My idea is to make my parents proud. It’s to be able to give my children a better life. To be able to put them in soccer or dance. It’s to make sure my family has food and a roof. I think though that now it’s about becoming known. Who is more famous and that type of thing.
I think that an American Dream is still alive, but I think it’s different than the original. I think that with technology advancing, it would be more suprising if it hadn’t changed. People will always have a version of the American Dream it’s why they come to America. So yes I do believe there is.
I think that the American Dream isn’t fixable. If it was then people wouldn’t be so money and fame oriented. I think that when we started making famous people our role models things were changed irrevicably. However it doesn’t have to be a bad thing. I think that if the right people were chosen to be role models instead of those we choose now, the American Dream might be changeable.
1- The american dream today is not a wife and kids, a dog and a white picket fence. it is just to be free and have a good bill of health and some type of income. for a lot of people it might be just to live in the U.S. and for some it might be to just to find love.
ReplyDelete2- yes I think today it is just to have a job
3- yes. it is just different then what it once was, it may be harder for some to achieve. but it is still alive today.
4- first we need to fix the economy so prople can get jobs and then every thing else will kinda fix its self.
the american dream is not like it was before now its more like just to be free and have a good bill of health and have income of some sort not kids and a wife with a golden retriever and a white picket fence for alot of people it is to live somewhere in the united states and some might just be for someone to find the love of their life...
ReplyDeleteyeah it kinda is just to have a job its not all about that though
it is completely different before it maybe alot or a little harder to achieve the american dream but its still around today its still in some peoples mind
the economy is real bad now a days if the economy were better people could get jobs and then they would have money to spend so they can fix the economy
Graded to this point
ReplyDelete) What is the American Dream? Anyone from all over the world that comes to America for freedom and a new change in life like jobs, money, housing, and just having a happy life with your family.
ReplyDelete2) Is your idea of the American Dream different from other generations? Today’s American dream yes is different just because everything is more advanced, but I still do think it is freedom and it can make a difference in someone.
3) Do you think the American Dream is still alive today? It is but it isn’t, we are known and freedom but people live differently no one is the same everyone is different in their own ways and lives how they peruse their lives.
4) What do you believe we need to do to fix the American Dream? Our economy
1) The American Dream is for people that aren’t U.S citizens and grants them citizenship if they graduate high school, and also if you served in the military.
ReplyDelete2) Yes because the American Dream now is to have a white fence, and 2.5 kids. That’s not how I want to live, living a normal life would be too boring for me.
3) Yes because people are still coming here trying to make a better living, getting educations, and joining the military.
4) We need more to the public education. The smarter you are the farther you will get in life and the more money you’ll make.
1) What is the American Dream?
ReplyDeleteTh american dream is to grow up in a middle class family, and get good grades, and go to college, 2.5 kids, nice house. That’s the typical american dream.
2) Is your idea of the American Dream different from other generations?
I think my american dream is just go grow up in a nice environment, and to get good grades, and go to college, and get a good job, and make a living for yourself.
3) Do you think the American Dream is still alive today?
I think people have lost sight of the american dream, and I think people are just trying to get by right now. I think a lot of people are trying to achieve it still, but I think with the recession and all, it’s a hard goal to achieve.
4) What do you believe we need to do to fix the American Dream?
Well, we should start by getting out of this recession. And then we could widen the requirements. Ha, because I thnk 2.5 kids is gonna be hard. And I think that doing everything in live perfectly is going to be hard. I like my american dream, because it is achieveable.
1) What is the American Dream?
ReplyDeleteThe American dream for me, growing up in India in the 1970s, looked something like the opening credits of Dallas.
2) Is your idea of the American Dream different from other generations?
Yes because I wanna be and a big house with 3 kids and a pro football player
3) Do you think the American Dream is still alive today?
Well not really because people are still doing their own things.
4) What do you believe we need to do to fix the American Dream?
Noting really
1. The American dream is ideally the widespread aspiration of Americans to live better than their parents did.
ReplyDelete2. I believe that my idea is not much different from many others ideas of the American dream.
3. In my opinion, I believe that yes the American dream is still around and is thriving, because people want to live better and make a name for themselves.
4. Some things that I think we could do to promote the American dream is we could show the norm being better and better.
The American dream is to be able to become a millionare have a house a dog a family 2.35 kids and a fence etc. that is the typical american dream. I would say my definiton of the American dream might differ a little bit from different generations because obviously it will change over time wheter it be become a millionare or have a good life etc. I do believe the American dream is still alive today people still will strive for the dream and put in that necessary hard work in order to accomplish this dream. To fix the dream I think there needs to be a more amount of people who will put in more work and try and strive harder and who want a better future for themselves and family etc.
