From July 30 to August 2 nearly 179 were raped by gunmen from another rebel group. Victims would be saying that they were assaulted in front of there families with up to 6 men raping them at the same time. Soon they figured out over 2 years of sick girls it has shown it was caused by poison gas. This was confirmed from blood tests. I thought this was interesting because you normally don’t hear about girls and teachers getting sick from poisonous gases. I would recommend reading it because it is just really random how girls were getting sick, I guess it’s just an article that you can’t relate to but it’s just interesting to read.

  24. I read “With life skills and leadership, Trapped Miners Forge a Refuge”. It’s about the miners who were caved in a San Jose mine not too long ago; they were thought to be hopefully lost but now they are found but there is one problem… They are stuck down there. There is a system of “hierarchy” down there, the three leaders of the 33 men trapped consist of Mario Gomez, who is convincing the miners to turn to God in their times of hardships, Luis Urzua who is a shift leader, and finally Yonnie Barrios who is a medical monitor of the group. Scientists up top worry about the miner’s physiology, and some officials are figuring out ways to get them out of the mine that they have been trapped in.
I chose this article because of the leadership that the group of miners have formed a society down there. They work different shifts to get themselves out and they communicate with the outside world for supplies that they may need in their times of hardship. I highly recommend this article to my classmates for reasons that I just explained.
I also read “Obama declares an end to Iraq combat mission”. On Tuesday president Barack Obama ended a 7-year American combat mission in Iraq. The reason for this is because president Obama saw that it was time to press on to problems that we have here at home, the united states of America. President Obama spoke with former president George W. Bush, and while they disagree on their opinions of Iraq, they both support their troops.
I read this article because in my opinion, president Obama is making the right choice of ending this combat mission before more fighting breaks loose. I highly recommend this article to my fellow students.

The remaining troops will be home by the end of 2011.
